Dial 9 to get an outside line
Our new telephone system uses smart call routing in order to save our district money on local long distance charges. If you are calling someone in the district please use their extension. All the attendance centers and the district office are on the same telephone system and staff can be reached by dialing their extension.
Also, by dialing 9 the new system saves us money by using all of our telephone lines in smart ways. For example, if you are at Anthony Elementary and you need to dial a local business in Harper's 896 exchange simply dial 9 to get an outside line and then dial the local Harper number 896-nnnn. Do not dial 1+Area Code+896-nnnn as that will cost the district money. If you are in Harper, you can dial Anthony numbers in the same fasion.
If you are at Chaparral, dial all Harper or Anthony numbers as if they were local. Please do not pick a line appearance and start dialing. While this works most of the time, it defeats the purpose of having the system route your call through the most cost effective manner automatically. Remember, dial 9 first.
Also at Chaparral, outside calling is locked on phones where students might have unsupervised access. On these phones, you must dial the account code before making your call. Extension to extension calls work without dialing the account code.
